Welcome to St. Martin’s web site.
If this is your first visit, let us tell you a little about our church. Our members
come from a large geographical area. Over 60 percent pass by other Episcopal
churches to attend St. Martin’s.
This attraction is due to several factors:
- Our beautiful style of worship
- A caring and compassionate parish family
- Our
dedication to the understanding of the Holy Scripture and how best to apply it in
our lives.
A strong worship tradition:
St. Martin’s is one of the few Anglo-Catholic
Episcopal churches in the Richmond area. We are eucharistically centered--
celebrating the Eucharist each Sunday. The Sunday 10:00 service is usually Rite I
and is highlighted by music and the beauty of a sung liturgy. Our choir, organist,
lay readers and acolytes all add to the beauty of our service. Visiting priests are
often surprised and delighted by the level of responsiveness and singing by the
congregation. In short, we strive to make worship a spiritual experience.
A caring church both for each other and our community:
One of our new
members said she knew she had found a church home because she could feel the
love from others and from the Holy Spirit. Our community outreach programs are
known throughout the area. Our members support several outreach programs with
time and monetary donations.
A devotion to the teachings of Christ:
We share a commitment to personal
and corporate study of God's Word. The reading and preaching of Scripture is an
integral part of our worship services. Moreover, Christian education is a central
part of our weekly schedule.
