Saint Martin's Episcopal Church

A Christian Church for all people Sharing God’s Love, Following Christ, Serving Others

Saint Martin’s Adult Choir leads the Service music at the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Services year round, and at other Services or special occasions as they arise throughout the year.  Choir membership is open to all people from high school age to senior citizens.  It is helpful, but not necessary to read music to participate in the choir.  It is more important to be able to carry a tune.

Rehearsals are held in the choir loft in the church from 7:30 p.m. to about 9:00 p.m. (no later) on Thursday evenings. Extra rehearsals are scheduled as needed.  Rehearsals begin in September on the Thursday following Labor Day, and continue until the Thursday before Pentecost or Memorial Day, whichever is later.  During the summer, soloists or small groups provide music at the Offertory, and rehearsals are scheduled at the convenience of the singers.

Saint Martin’s Junior Choir is open to children from age 8 through Middle School.  Children should be able to read (words) and to sit through a Service without adult supervision.  This choir rehearses for several periods from about four to six weeks throughout the year, prior to performing in church.  We can have a Junior Choir when we have at least six children who are able to commit to attendance at rehearsals and at our performance.

Musicians Other than Singers are always encouraged to share their talents with the parish.  Anyone who plays an instrument could help accompany hymns or anthems, or perform solos or other arrangements at the Offertory or during Preludes and Postludes.
